Biography

Erik “Boa” Boström graduated in medicine and philosophy but was best known for his multiple activities in sports. As a marksman he competed in the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, winning silver with the Swedish free pistol team, and placed fifth in the same event individually.

Boström was also active in canoe sailing and made many long trips publishing several reports of these trips in the magazine Kanotidrott. He was chairman of Stockholm’s Association for Canoe-Sports (1915-23 and 1925-29), and in 1917 he was also the chairman of the Swedish Canoe Association. In 1922 he was engaged in founding the Navigation Society. In 1906 Boström also became secretary of Stockholm’s Skate Sailing Club and chairman of Sweden’s Skate Sailing Association, a position he held until 1918. From 1904-06 he acted as secretary and chancellor of the Swedish Sports Confederation.
