Biography

Fernando Lopes competed in swimming at the 1980 Moskva Olympics and was chosen to carry the Angolan flag at the Opening Ceremony. Lopes was the first Angolan to carry the nation’s flag at an Opening Ceremony and he was the youngest athlete in the Angolan delegation at Moskva. His later career was in aviation although he also worked in sports as a member of the Arbitration Council.
