Biography

Glenn Beringen was primarily a breaststroker who won a silver medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in the 200 breaststroke. He also competed in the 200 IM at Los Angeles. Beringen competed at the 1982 Commonwealth Games where he claimed another silver medal in the 200 breaststroke. After the Olympics, he again won silver in his best event at the 1985 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.

In the late 1980s Beringen worked as an assistant coach at the South Australian Sport Institute for two years, before becoming head coach. He served in that role for 10 years before moving to Canberra to become senior swim coach at the Australian Institute of Sport. Beringen was an Australian team coach at multiple international events in the 1990s and 2000s.
