Austrian Alexander Pilhatsch, son of high jumper Arnulf Pilhatsch, participated as a freestyle swimmer in both the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games, but was eliminated early. By profession he was a physician, specializing in pediatric radiology in Graz. His wife Birgit Haase-Pilhatsch and their daughter Sabrina Pilhatsch were nationally successful rhythmic gymnasts. Their other daughter Caroline became a swimmer as well.
