After the end of the war Talita Rodrígues represented the Fluminense club in Rio de Janeiro, becoming a noted freestyle swimmer. When Rodrígues was only 13-years-old she travelled with the Brazilian delegation to the 1948 Olympics in London. Although she did not start in her individual event, the 400 metres freestyle, she did swim in the 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay, with Brazil finishing sixth in the final. Three years later she won bronze in the 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay at the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires with compatriots Piedade Coutinho-Tavares, Idamis Busin, and Ana Lucia Santa Rita. Her brother Sérgio also swam at the London Olympics, in addition to competing in the water polo tournament at the 1952 Helsinki Games.
