Biography

Alice Stoffel was a French competitive swimmer who represented SR Colmar in the 1920s. Stoffel won her first national titles in 1922, winning the 100 metres backstroke and the 200 metres breaststroke. She excelled in the latter, going on to win a further five French titles in the discipline (1923, 1925–28). At the 1924 Paris Olympics she swam in both the 100 metres backstroke and the 200 metres breaststroke, but swam just the breaststroke at the 1928 Amsterdam Games. Stoffel was the sister-in-law of Virginie Rausch, who also swam in the 200 metres breaststroke in Amsterdam, representing Luxembourg.
