Biography

During the first half of the 1960s Claude Raffy swam competitively for France at multiple international competitions. A specialist in the backstroke, Raffy was a two-time national champion, winning the 100 metres title in 1962, followed by the 200 metres title in 1963. In 1960 he was selected to swim in the 100 metres backstroke at the Roma Olympics where he finished fourth in his heat. At the 1962 European Championships in Leipzig he finished fifth in the final of the 200 metres backstroke and came fourth in the 4 x 100 metres medley relay. Raffy had his best result one year later, winning silver in the 200 metres backstroke at the Mediterranean Games in Napoli.
