As a 15-year-old, backstroke swimmer, Audrey Hancock appeared in the 1934 British Empire Games at the Wembley Pool, London, finishing fourth. Despite being the 1936 and 1937 Midlands backstroke champion, Hancock never won an ASA title, with a second-place behind Helen Yate in 1938 was her best result. Hancock also won the Worcestershire backstroke title every year between 1937-47 and in the last of those years also won the 100 yards breaststroke title. That same year she also took up the relatively new butterfly stroke. Hancock later became a professional swimming coach.
