Alexander Beckett went into the 1908 Olympics as one of the most improved divers in Britain. Sadly, he failed to live up to that billing and finished last of five in his springboard section. He was a member of the famous Neptune Club and, because of a lack of competitions at the time, most of Beckett’s diving consisted of exhibitions of plain, fancy and acrobatic diving in and around the London area with the Neptune Divers.
