Susanne Börnike was an East German swimmer who won the 200 metres breaststroke B-final at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and was classified ninth. She won three gold medals and one bronze at the 1985 and 1989 European Championships. In 1989, she also set a short-course 200 metres breaststroke world record of 2:22.92.
After German re-unification, it became known, that Börnike was given doping substances as a part of the state prescribed doping program. Börnike domestically won several individual titles in breaststroke and IM events. She later studied physiotherapics.
