Diver Christa Köhler finished 11th at the 1972 München Games on springboard. Four years later she earned a silver medal at the 1976 Montréal Games. She won gold at both the 1973 Worlds and the 1977 Europeans. In 1969 and from 1975-77 she claimed the East German titles in this event.
Köhler later married her coach Max Kinast and became a diving coach as well. She first coached with SC Empor Rostock, and after re-unification was with WSC Rostock and coached at the Regional Olympic Center in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
