East German diver Martina Proeber earned the silver medal on springboard at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. In 1982 she won her only East German national title and placed sixth at the Worlds. After her sports career, she studied medicine and received her doctorate in 1995. Proeber later worked in Rostock at the State Office for Health and Social Affairs in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
