Biography
Breaststroke swimmer Silvia Rinka, later wife of flatwater canoeist Uwe Madeja, finished eighth in the 200 metres final, and was eliminated in the heats of the 100 metres, at the 1980 Moskva Summer Games. The previous year she won her only East German national title in the 100 metres. Her son Benjamin Madeja also became a competitive swimmer.
