Wolfgang Platzeck was an East German butterfly and IM swimmer who competed at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. He failed to reach the individual 200 final, as he was eliminated in the heats. He never won a national title, but reached the podium three times, twice in the 200 butterfly (silver in 1964 and bronze in 1966), and once in the 400 IM (bronze in 1965). Platzeck later studied sports and worked as a sports and swimming coach. In 2004 he founded a swimming school in Bad Bramstedt.
