Biography
Simone Osygus was a German freestyle swimmer. She had her best performances at the European Championships, where she won four gold, three silver, and one bronze medal between 1991-97. She also won two silver medals at the Worlds in 1991 and 1998. All her Olympic medals came in relays, winning silver in the 1992 medley and the 1996 4×200 free, and bronzes in the 1992 and 1996 4×100 free.
After her active career, Osygus graduated as a sports teacher and managed the Bundesliga volleyball club SV Bayer Wuppertal. She eventually became CEO of the swimming department of SV Bayer Wuppertal. In 2013, she additionally became president of the Wuppertaler Swimming Association. She was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, in 1993.
