Stephan Güsgen was a West German freestyle swimmer finishing sixth in the B-final of the 50 metres event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. His final classification was 14th place. He won the national titles in this event in 1986 and 1988. By profession, Güsgen became a doctor for orthopedics and trauma surgery with his own practice in Düsseldorf.
