Biography

West German freestyle swimmer Hans Köhler from Darmstadt failed to reach the semi-finals of both the 100 and 400 freestyle at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, but finished fifth with the 4x200 freestyle relay team. In 1955 and 1956 he captured the West German national titles in the 200 and 400 freestyle. From 1954-57 he represented West Germany in 12 international matches.
