Hans Lampe, the brother of the more successful swimmer Werner Lampe and uncle of Werner’s son Oliver, participated in the 100 m butterfly at the 1972 München Olympics, but was eliminated in the heats. Two years earlier, he won the European title at Barcelona. In 1970 and 1972, he won the West German titles in this event. He later became a graduated school teacher in geography, mathematics and sports.
