Biography

Olaf, Baron von Schilling was a freestyler who competed in the 1968 Mexico City and the 1972 München Olympics. In 1968, he finished sixth in both the 4x100 and the 4x200 freestyle relays. Individually, he was eliminated in the heats of the 100 and 200 freestyles. At München, he only started the 200 free and was also eliminated in the heats. At the 1970 Europeans in Barcelona von Schilling won a gold medal with the 4x200 relay. In 1965, he set a world record with the 4x200 freestyle relay, for which he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.
