Hans-Günther Vosseler was a member of the West German 4x200 m freestyle relay team that won the silver medal at the 1972 München Olympics. He was also a member of the 4x100 m squad, but swam only in the heats, not in the final, when the squad finished sixth. At the 1970 European Championships, he also swam in the heats of the 4x200 m freestyle relay, but not in the final, when the four went on to win gold. In 1972, Vosseler was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.
