Bengt, twin brother of Björn Zikarsky, was a German swimmer who represented Germany at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He won two bronze medals, with the 4x100 freestyle relay squads, and was an unfortunate fourth with the 4x100 IM relays on both occasions. Over 50 metres freestyle he placed tenth in 1996. At the 1991 World Championships he added a silver and a bronze medal with the relays. He also won a relay gold at the 1989 Europeans.
Bengt Zikarsky was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award, in 1993. In October 1996 he was expelled from the national team for making insulting remarks against the German Swimming Association president Klaus Henter. A little later he retired. By profession, Zikarsky owned an Oral and maxillofacial surgery at Nürnberg.
