Gaetano Carboni was an Italian swimmer. In 1972 he placed second in the 200 butterfly at the Italian Championships, both indoors and out, which qualified him for the München Olympics, where he was eliminated in the first round.
Carboni retired from sports quite young and became a writer. He has written for the La Repubblica newspaper and various literary magazines. In the 1990s, under the pen name Sebastiano Nata, he began writing novels, the first of which, L’impiegato, was published in 1995. In 1999 Carboni / Nata won the City of Vigevano prize for his novel La resistenza del nuotatore.
In addition to his writing, Carboni has worked as a banker, serving as general manager for Europe of MasterCard Worldwide, which he joined in 1991, after 11 years with the Italian Banking Association (ABI). Carboni graduated in political sciences from Sapienza University in Roma in 1978, and in 1979 obtained a master’s degree in European Politics and Economics from the “Alcide De Gasperi” Institute of European Studies.
