Paolo Galletti was an Italian distance freestyler who swam at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics. Born in Firenze he won 11 Italian titles. His greatest achievements came at the 1958 European Championships, where he won silver in the 4x200 freestyle relay and a bronze in the 400 freestyle. During his career he set Italian records in the 200, 400, 800, and 1,500 freestyle and the 200 backstroke.
After his athletic career, Galletti became well known as a painter, especially of geometric compositions. His works have been exhibited in Paris, Bologna, Milano, Firense, and Torino. A biography of his life was published in 2018 by his friends Paolo Pepino and Paolo Santagati, entitled Paolo Galletti, stile libero.
