Biography

Tsuneko Furuta was a Japanese freestyle swimmer. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics Furuta competed in the 100 metres freestyle, finishing sixth in her heat. Furuta was also part of Japan’s team for the 4 × 100 metres freestyle relay where they finished in last place in their heat. Furuta was also the Japanese Champion in the 100 m freestyle in 1935 and 1936 and in the 200 m freestyle in 1937.
