Kazuo Noda graduated from Shizuoka Prefectural Hamamatsu Commercial School and went on to attend Keio University. He was a former Japanese record holder in the 400 m, 800 m and 1.500 m freestyle events. His best result at the 1924 Paris Olympics was a fourth place in the freestyle relay; however, he missed the finals in his individual events.
In the following year, Noda won a bronze medal at the 7th Far Eastern Games in the 400 y. At the 1928 Olympics, he was a member of the Japanese relay team that won silver, but Noda competed only in the heats. In Amsterdam, he also served as captain of the swimming team. Four years later, he accompanied the team to the Los Angeles Olympics as an assistant coach.
