Dutch swimmer Bert Sitters was also a water polo player, an international swimming coach, and a television commentator. Sitters swam in the 200 metres butterfly at the 1960 Roma Olympics where he finished in seventh place in his heat. Four years later, he swam in the 100 metres freestyle and the 4 × 200 metres freestyle relay at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Sitters finished in sixth place in his heat in the 100 metres freestyle and in sixth place with the Dutch team in their heat in the relay.
After his retirement from competitive swimming, Sitters took alternative spells as the coach for the Royal Dutch Swimming Federation (KNZB) and the Spanish Swimming Federation, working as the technical director of the latter from 1983 to 1986. He coached the Dutch national swimming team at the Olympics in 1976, 1980, 1984, and 1988. After his work as a coach he later became a regular commentor on aquatic sports for Eurosport. For recognition of his work Sitters was honoured as a Member of Merit of the KNZB in 2017.
