Biography

Dave Lindsay won the national titles for the 440 yards and 880 yards freestyle each on five occasions between 1927 and 1934. A lieutenant in the 2nd New Zealand Division in World War II, he was killed in the battle for Orsogna in southern Italy. He and seven other members of his platoon were victims of a shell from an Allied 25-pounder that fired short.
