Tuburan Tamse, from the Tausug ethnic group, was only 17-years-old when he competed at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. He also competed in the Far Eastern Games but had no chance against the Japanese swimmers dominating the freestyle events. He later graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila and joined the government service. He was appointed chief of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Zamboanga City.
