Ismaila Mabo was a Nigerian football coach who was in charge of the women’s national team from 1999 to 2002 and again in 2004. Mabo’s best achievement was leading the team to the quarter-finals of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup. After being 3–0 down to Brazil, Nigeria scored three goals in the second half of the match to take the game into extra time. However, they were denied a place in the semi-finals after Brazil’s Sissi scored a golden goal. Mabo was the coach of the women’s team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Athína Olympics where the Nigerian women finished eighth and sixth, respectively.
