Rudolf Vytlačil was a Czechoslovak footballer and manager. Born in the Austria-Hungary state, he started his career at the local club Phonix Schwechat and then played for SK Slovan Wien, and Favoritner SC in the Austrian League. Vytlačil moved to Slavia Praha in the Czechoslovak Championship and won six top league titles (between 1935-43) and the 1938 Mitropa Cup, beating Ferencvàros in the two-legged final thanks to a goal from Vytlačil in the second leg.
After his playing days Vytlačil coached several teams. Between 1962-66 he was coach of the Czechoslovak national team and was in charge at the 1962 FIFA World Cup in Chile and the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, where they were runners-up to Brazil and Hungary respectively. At the 1966 World Cup in England Vytlačil coached Bulgaria but did not survive the first round, eliminated from a group headed by Hungary and Portugal.
Vytlacil coached several club sides, including Levski Sofia, with whom he won two Bulgarian top league titles (1965 and 1970), Banik Ostrava, Tatran Teplice, TJ Gottwaldov and, in Austria, from 1966-68, SK Rapid Wien with whom he won the Austrian championship twice and reached the quarter-final of the European Champions Cup in 1968-69 before losing to Manchester United after beating Real Madrid in the previous round.
