Biography

Vicente Ítalo Feola was a Brazilian footballer and manager. He was a descendant of an Italian family who emigrated to South America at the turn of the 20th century. After a playing career with teams in the Sao Paulo area, Feola turned to coaching and became famous in 1958 for leading Brazil to its first victory in the FIFA World Cup in Sweden, having seen them suffer defeat on home soil against Uruguay in the 1950 final.

Feola also coached Brazil at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics and then at the 1966 World Cup in England, having seen Aymoré Moreira coach the side to its second World Cup win at Chile in 1962. At club level Feola won the Paulista Championship with São Paulo in 1948 and 1949.
