Biography

Brighton referee Bert Williams took control of just one international match, the qualifying game for the 1948 London Olympics between Luxembourg and Afghanistan at the Goldstone Ground, near to his Brighton home. The majority of Williams’ refereeing was in the Sussex area and mostly in Sussex County League matches. He occasionally took charge of early round FA Cup and Amateur Cup matches. He was added to the supplementary list of Football League referees for one season in 1950/51. Williams served on the Sussex County Football Association.
