Bobby Hume was a boxing referee and judge from the Gilmerton area of Edinburgh. He was a highly rated international referee and was voted the best referee at the 1959 European Amateur Championships in Lucerne. The following year, he officiated in many bouts at the Roma Olympics including the light-heavyweight final between Cassius Clay and Zbigniew Pietrzykowski.
Hume, who served in the Gilmerton Battalion of the Home Guard during World War II, was appointed secretary of the Eastern Division of the Scottish ABA in 1945. He was assistant secretary of the Scottish ABA at the time and later became treasurer, and president, of the SABA. He was also president of the Gilmerton ABC.
