Biography

Charlie Kahr was an Austrian Alpine skiing coach and referee who trained dozens of athletes in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1970 Kahr was the head coach of the Austrian women’s team, which saw him lead Annemarie Moser-Pröll to her first medal at the World Alpine Ski Championships, winning bronze in the downhill at Val Gardena. He had Olympic success in the downhill when Franz Klammer won gold in Innsbruck (1976) and Leonhard Stock won gold in Lake Placid (1980). Kahr was also the course setter on the women’s giant slalom course at the 1972 Sapporo Olympics and the men’s downhill course at the Lake Placid Games.
