Biography

Between 1950-65 Gino Rigato refereed in Serie A for 15 consecutive seasons. He went on to take charge of 207 games in the top flight of Italian football, bowing out after the Mesina-Fiorentina game on 16 May 1965. In addition to his Serie A matches, he took charge of a further 81 in Serie B, and in 1961, refereed the Italian Cup final between Fiorentina and Lazio.

Rigaro was a FIFA international referee from 1960-64, and acted as a linesman at the 1960 Roma Olympics. He also refereed two quarter-final ties in the European Cup. The first was the match between Benfica and Nurnberg in 1962, and the second was the Dukla Praha-Borussia Dortmund game in 1964.
