Biography

As an athlete, referee, and sports administrator, Austria’s Helmut Sieber dedicated more than 60 years of his life to figure skating. Sieber was a board member of several clubs in the Vienna Regional Association and in the ASKÖ Vienna Regional Association. From 1991 to 2012 he served as the ASKÖ state representative for figure skating. Along with his wife he founded the disabled sports division of the Favoriten Ice Sports Association in 1994. In 2010 Sieber served as an ISU judge for the women’s figure skating competition at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. He was bestowed with multiple awards for his contributions to skating in Austria including the Gold Medal of Merit of the Republic of Austria in 2008 and the Golden Medal of Honor by the Austrian Figure Skating Association in 2020.
