A Football League referee, Patrick Drewry only officiated in one international match. Hailing from the New Forest in Hampshire, Drewry was a linesman in the Netherlands v Ireland qualifying match for the 1948 Olympic competition. The match was held in his native Hampshire, at Fratton Park, Portsmouth. It was only the second international played on the ground, and it came 45 years after the first, a full international between England and Wales in 1903. Drewry was a former railway clerk, and died the day before his 93rd birthday.
