Vemuri Sudhakar officiated badminton at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympic Games, in addition to numerous other international tournaments. For his work in badminton, notably as a member of the BWF Umpire Assessment Panel, he received the BWF Distinguished Service Award. Sudhakar was a student at Methodist School and Nizam College. His career was in banking, as he became deputy manager of Syndicate Bank.
