After taking up skating at a rink in Sydney in 1963 Australia’s Wendy Langton became a figure skating judge only three years later. Langton officiated at club level from 1966, before judging at a national level in 1973, and moving on to international competitions in 1982. As an international judge she presided over events at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Langton founded the Sydney Figure Skating Club where she served as the secretary, President, and committee member from 1966 to 1977. She served as a national secretary for 26 years and was a member of international judging committees from 1974 to 2016. During this time Langton also served on the Australian Olympic Committee from 1982 to 2011. For her services to ice skating she was awarded with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in June 2002.
