Ladislav Bačík was a backstroke swimmer who competed at the 1952 and 1956 Olympics. He also competed at both the 1954 and 1958 European Championships. Bačík was also a top water polo player, leading his Kúpeľov Piešťany team in scoring several times, and leading them to a Czechoslovak national title. He competed at the 1966 European Water Polo Championships in Utrecht, where he was the second leading scorer in the tournament.
Bačík graduated from Charles University in Bratislava and later became a water polo coach and taught swimming. In 2003 the Slovak Olympic Committee awarded him the SOV Bronze Circles.
