Biography

Brazilian volleyball player André Felipe Falbo Ferreira, better known as Pampa, played for several domestic sides in addition to representing the national team. During his long career Pampa played for Palmeiras and Suzano in Brazil, along with spells with teams in both Italy and Japan. He represented the national team for nine years, making his Olympic début at the 1988 Seoul Games, where Brazil finished fourth after losing to rivals Argentina. Three years later he was part of the Brazilian squad that won silver at the 1991 Pan American Games in La Habana. In 1992 he returned to the Olympics where Brazil won gold with victory against the Netherlands. Following his playing career Pampa entered the world of politics where he worked in several high-profile sporting roles, including at the Ministry of Sports (2000–02) and the Secretary of Sports for the city of Suzano (2007–10).
