Biography

Rudi Schiffl finished 27th in the individual archery event at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. Two years earlier he had his greatest sporting moment by becoming the first German to win the European title in the individual event, also winning with the West German team. The team was therefore awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. At the 1975 Worlds Schiffl managed only 30th place. After returning from the 1976 Games, Schiffl co-founded the archery section within his home club TSV Dachau 1865. He also won West German titles in 1973 and 1975.
