Lancastrian Dorothy Sharpe married Yorkshireman Christopher Cadman in 1903. He was a pisciculturist, and owned the North of England Fish Hatchery Company. After his death in 1931, Dorothy later married Sir Ernest Wingate -Saul, the former recorder of Preston and judge in the Isle of Man. Upon her marriage, she became known as Lady Wingate-Saul. A keen huntswoman and archer, the highlight of her career was in winning the 1907 Grand National Northern Archery Championship at Windermere, not far from the city of her birth, Lancaster.
