Hans Schepers competed for SC Rote Erde Hamm and won a German championship with them. He also competed from 1963-65 in the German swimming championships as a freestyler. In 1960 he was captain of the German Olympic water polo team which finished sixth. He started coaching, coaching Red Earth Hamm through 1972 and then focused on his career as an optician.
