Hans-Werner Seher was a member of the West German water polo team that finished sixth at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Domestically he played for Hellas Magdeburg in his youth and was the only East German-born water polo player within the West German team. After World War II the family had moved to West Germany. He earned 32 caps for West Germany and immigrated to the United States in the 1960s. He died in 2005 in Hudson, Florida after a short and severe illness.
