A multi-sport athlete, Moore was an active footballer, playing at the amateur level for Bangor and Cliftonville as a goalkeeper in the 1920s and 1930s, including an international appearance versus Scotland in 1933.
Also a noted golfer, Moore was a life member of the Belvoir Park Golf Club, competing in the Belfast & District Cup, Ulster Cup, Barton Shield and Senior Cup, and won the Hermitage Amateur Professional Foursomes with his partner, Fred Daly (winner of The Open Championship in 1947).
