Angelo Marciani was an Italian water polo player who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics. With Rari Nantes Camogli, he won the Italian Championship four times between 1952-57. He later coached them and in 1981, when coach at Bogliasco, Marciani won a fifth championship. For Bogliasco, with the great Eraldo Pizzo in their team, it was their first ever title.
The highlight of Marciani’s international career was in winning the gold medal at the 1955 Mediterranean Games at Barcelona. He had won a bronze medal at the European Championships at Torino the previous year, and in 1956 competed at the Melbourne Olympics when Italy, trained by Bandy Zolyomy, took fourth place.
