Biography

Carlos Seigelshifer represented Argentina as a middle-heavyweight at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, but failed to record a mark in the clean and jerk and thus did not place in the competition. He had better luck at the 1955 Pan American Games, where he won a bronze medal behind Dave Sheppard of the United States and Brazil’s Bruno Barabani, and the 1956 South American Championships, where he took home gold. He also competed at the 1957 Maccabiah Games and the 1959 Pan Americans, won several national titles, and was later involved heavily in the administration of the Maccabi movement in his native country.
