Charlie Henderson competed in weightlifting at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He was a 12-time Australian Champion, winning the 56 kg title for 10 consecutive years from 1951-60, and adding titles at 60 kg in 1962 and 1968.
Henderson continued to lift and compete into his later years, winning World Masters Championships in 1994, 1996, 1999, and 2002, and World Masters Games titles in 1994 and 2002. He also set several age group world records. Henderson had a strong interest in ballroom dancing in which he also competed in his later years.
