Andon Nikolov had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1972 Olympics Middle-Heavyweight class (525.0 kg); 1st in the 1972 World Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (525.0 kg); 3rd in the 1972 European Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (525.0 kg); 2nd in the 1973 European Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (352.5 kg); 2nd in the 1974 European Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (385.0 kg); 3rd in the 1978 European Championships Middle-Heavyweight class (352.5 kg). He set five world records in middle-heavyweight class – three in the snatch and two in the total.
